The Buddha encouraged students of The Way to visit,  if they could, Lumbini, where he took birth, Bodh Gaya, where he attained Enlightenment, Sarnath, where he began to teach, and Kushinagar, where he passed into Parinirvana. Each of these places can have a very supportive effect on practice if they are journeyed to in a spirit of seeking to realize their profound implications. Pilgrims have also gone to other places as well in a practice of meditation "on the road". Our gallery section presents photographs of some often visited sites of pilgrimage/ practice and will be added to in the future.
